Living a Balanced and Cozy Life in Retirement
There seems to be a growing movement these days around living a simpler, minimalist, clutter-free life—especially in retirement. While I understand the appeal, my own philosophy is a little different. I believe in balance.

Living a Balanced and Cozy Life in Retirement
For me, that means living debt-free, keeping an organized and tidy home, and surrounding myself with things that bring joy. Many of my favourite pieces of décor are ones I salvaged, gave a new life to, and now cherish every day.

The finished artwork, memories of my travels
Wherever I travel, nothing compares to returning to my cozy home. It’s where I enjoy slow mornings in my pyjamas with a cup of tea or coffee in my favourite corner, set the table for simple but beautiful meals, and unwind in the evenings with a movie, dimmed lights, and scented candles.

Retirement: A New Chapter, Not a Rejection of the Past
It’s been over a year and a half since I retired, and I can honestly say I love these golden years. That doesn’t mean I look back on my working life with regret. Those years shaped who I am today. They brought stress and pressure, yes, but also a steady income, friendships, valuable experiences, and the foundation for my pension. Work was an investment in my future—and in myself.
Embracing Decluttering at My Own Pace
These days, I am slowly decluttering. Not because it’s trendy, but because it feels right. I let go of what no longer serves me or what I’ve fallen out of love with. When I sell items, I use the money to purchase only what I need or what has a true purpose.
A Lifestyle I Love
I’ve always been open to taking risks, making changes, and trying new things—but I do it thoughtfully, with a plan (and always a Plan B in case it doesn’t work out). My routines bring me joy: cooking, DIY projects, crafting, walking, and spending time in nature. These activities fill my days with meaning and creativity

Finding Your Own Balance
I hope to inspire others not to feel pressured to follow every new lifestyle trend or mission. Minimalism, decluttering, frugality—they all have value, but they don’t have to define your retirement. What matters most is finding the lifestyle that works for you. For me, it’s balance, coziness, and a home I love.
After all, retirement isn’t about following the crowd. It’s about following your heart.
